Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Spokt ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Spokt iOS app and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from the identity provider. If you use Sign in with Apple's private-relay email, we never see your real email โ€” only Apple's relay address. We store your account information so we can keep your library available across sessions and devices.

Content you import or create

To turn documents into audio, Spokt processes text from the files, URLs, or text input you give it. The original text and the generated audio are stored in your account so you can listen later. Documents you import locally (audiobooks from Files / iCloud) stay on your device unless you choose to upload them.

Usage and diagnostics

We collect anonymous usage events (which features are used, how often) to improve the app. If the app crashes we collect a crash report so we can fix the bug. This data is processed via Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics and is not linked to identifying information beyond an internal user ID.

Purchase information

When you subscribe or buy credits, Apple handles the payment. We receive Apple's signed transaction receipt and store which plan or pack you bought, so we can grant access. We do not see or store your payment method.

Microphone & speech recognition

If you opt in to the audiobook word-sync feature, Spokt uses your device's on-device speech recognition to align your audiobook's audio with its text. Audio is processed entirely on your device and never leaves it. We do not record, store, or transmit any audio captured for alignment.

Device information

We collect a device identifier (per-install, not your hardware ID) and your push notification token if you allow notifications. These are used to deliver notifications about your account (e.g. when a generation finishes) and to keep you signed in.

2. What we don't do

3. How we use your information

4. Sharing your information

We share information only with service providers strictly necessary to operate the Service:

We never share your content for advertising or sell it to data brokers.

5. Data retention

We keep your account information and the content you've created for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your account information, your generated audio, and your imported content within 30 days. Some anonymous diagnostic data may be retained longer in aggregate form for service-reliability purposes.

6. Your rights

You can:

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we've inadvertently collected information from a child, contact us and we'll delete it.

8. International transfers

Our servers may be located outside your country. By using the Service you consent to the transfer of your information to those locations. We rely on standard contractual clauses and the security practices of our infrastructure providers to protect data in transit and at rest.

9. Security

We protect data in transit with TLS, store credentials in the iOS Keychain, and use Apple's app-group container for sharing between the main app and the Share Extension. No system is perfectly secure โ€” please use a strong, unique passcode on your device and notify us immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised.

10. Changes

If we change this Privacy Policy in a way that materially affects you, we'll notify you in-app or by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
